厄瓜多尔又有一政治领袖遭枪杀。“公民革命党”成员布里奥内斯星期一（8月14日）在厄北部埃斯梅拉达斯省圣马特奥被枪击死亡。
这是继厄总统候选人比利亚维森西奥9日在首都基多北部遭枪击身亡后又一政治暗杀事件。
新华社报道，公民革命党总统候选人冈萨雷斯（Luisa Gonzalez）在社交平台上证实此事。公民革命党由厄瓜多尔前总统科雷亚创立。
根据警方提供的信息，两名凶手骑着摩托车靠近布里奥内斯（Pedro Briones）的住所并对他发动袭击。事发后，布里奥内斯被送往医院，医生在颈部左侧发现两个弹痕，确认已失去生命体征。
厄瓜多尔将于8月20日提前举行总统和国民代表大会（议会）选举，选出总统、副总统以及议会137名议员，任期至2025年。随着选举临近，厄瓜多尔国内暴力事件频发。厄瓜多尔总统拉索8月10日宣布全国进入为期60天的紧急状态，但大选仍将如期举行。
