Ukraine Seeks U.S. Assistance: Trump Warns Russia That Missiles Will Be Provided to Ukraine if the War Does Not Stop

Recently, Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that he will travel to the United States this week to discuss the potential provision of long-range weapons to Ukraine. According to the latest reports, Zelensky is seeking U.S. assistance to protect Ukraine's electricity, natural gas, and cyberspace, while also enhancing Ukraine's air defense and long-range capabilities to counter Russian pressure. Prior to deciding to go to the United States for the meeting, Zelensky had already had a very "productive" call with Trump. Following this, Trump warned Russia that if it does not resolve the war with Ukraine promptly, he might provide long-range missile support to Ukraine, allowing Ukraine to strike deeper into Russian territory.

Against the backdrop of the ongoing tense situation in the Russia-Ukraine war, the meeting between Trump and Zelensky and the warning to Russia will, to some extent, escalate the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. On one hand, U.S. military support for Ukraine provides Ukraine with stronger military backing, giving it the means to continue military confrontation with Russia. Additionally, Ukraine must recognize that continued military confrontation will only bring more harm to the country. The Ukrainian government needs to weigh the pros and cons, actively seek opportunities for direct dialogue with Russia while securing external support, and create conditions for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
