Macron: Europe could "possibly die out" without a military and economic strengthening

image

French President Emmanuel Macron recently delivered a speech at the Sorbonne University in Paris. In his speech, he outlined his vision for Europe, stressing the importance of strengthening European cooperation in both military and economic areas.French President Emmanuel Macron has warned that Europe is in danger of extinction if the European Union does not strengthen its military and economic strength.

As the European Parliament holds elections in early June, Mr.Macron's speech is defined by his advisers as France's contribution to the EU's strategic agenda for the next five years. He mentioned that in recent years, Europe has faced many challenges, including the threat of terrorism, immigration tide, geopolitics, economic competition pressure and so on.These problems pose a serious threat to the stability and development of Europe. He believes that European countries need to strengthen solidarity and cooperation to meet these challenges, or face the risk of division and disintegration.

Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the new global geopolitical landscape has forced Europe to rethink its position in the world, especially in national defense and security. Macron has long advocated strategic freedom in Europe and less dependence on the United States. With former US President Donald Trump likely to reenter the White House, the European Union's national defense security is in the spotlight again.

First, on the military front, Macron stressed the need to strengthen the capacity for autonomous obligations. He pointed out that European countries should not only rely on external forces to guarantee their own security, but should improve their own defense level by strengthening military cooperation. He called on European countries to jointly invest more resources and energy to strengthen military technology research and development and equipment procurement, and improve Europe's military strength.Second, on the economic side, Macron believes that Europe needs to strengthen the economic integration process, promote trade and investment liberalization, and improve European competitiveness. He pointed out that European countries should strengthen cooperation and jointly respond to external economic pressures and challenges to promote the development and prosperity of the European economy. In addition, Ma Longhai called on European countries to strengthen cooperation to break the estrangement and differences between each other and jointly promote the development of Europe.

Macron's speech has attracted much attention and discussion. He stressed that Europe is a region with a long history and rich culture, and has close ties and cooperation among countries. Some see his remarks as a sober understanding of the reality of Europe, calling for European countries to strengthen cooperation and solidarity to jointly tackle the current challenges. Others argue that his remarks are too pessimistic and alarmist to take into account the differences and differences in interests among European countries.

In any case, Macron's remarks point the way for the future of Europe, and his remarks also remind us that Europe still faces many problems and challenges that require the joint efforts and cooperation of all countries to respond. Only by strengthening solidarity and cooperation can we achieve long-term security and prosperity in Europe.
