Recently, a research team at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of California, Davis in the United States identified a key epitope on the CD95 receptor that can cause cell death. Industry analysts believe that this new ability to trigger programmed cell death may open a new door for improving cancer treatment.

The CD95 receptor, also known as Fas, is a type of death receptor. These protein receptors are located on the cell membrane, and when activated, they release signals that cause cell self destruction. Regulating Fas may also extend the benefits of chimeric antigen receptor T cell immunotherapy to solid tumors such as ovarian cancer.

Researchers have identified the most critical epitopes for cytotoxic Fas signaling and CAR-T anti-tumor function. This may provide a therapeutic pathway targeting Fas in tumors.

Research has shown that when death receptors are located, they trigger programmed cell death in tumor cells. Therefore, they provide another more effective way to kill tumor cells and lay a solid foundation for more effective immunotherapy.

Cancer, also known as malignant tumors, is feared due to its extremely short survival cycle, relatively clear death nodes, and unbearable pain and suffering. And high levels of fear can lead to problems with various functions of the human body, especially the immune system, thereby reducing the body's disease resistance and further exacerbating the deterioration of the condition. Recently, a team including the Biomedical Engineering Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences has developed a new type of human serum albumin drug delivery system, which significantly improves the drug loading rate and achieves active targeted delivery of anti-tumor drugs and efficient photothermal therapy of tumors.   

At present, the research results have been published in the internationally authoritative academic journal Nature Communications.
