Sovereign credit rating downgraded to negative How far can Israel go

image

On October 24th local time, according to the Israel Times, Standard&Poor's announced that it would downgrade Israel's sovereign credit rating outlook from "stable" to "negative", while confirming the country's rating as "AA -".

In response, Standard&Poor's stated that it believes that the conflict "will still be concentrated in Gaza, but there is a risk of spreading and expanding, which will have a more significant impact on Israel's economic and security situation." At the same time, it also predicts that the Israeli economy will contract by 5% in the last quarter of 2023 and then resume growth early next year.

As of now, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has continued until its 20th day, and it has developed into a focus of global attention.

The Palestinian health department in Gaza stated on the 25th that since the outbreak of this conflict, 6546 people have died in the Gaza area, including 2704 children and 1584 women. The United Nations refugee agency has stated that its civilian shelter in Gaza will be forced to cease operations unless fuel is received before the 25th.

At present, countless Palestinians in Gaza are suffering from heinous, human purgatory like devastation and torture: no water, no electricity, no food, no medicine, no right to life, and the world is devastated.

The latest figures indicate that the conflict has resulted in over 8000 deaths on both sides.

The United Nations Security Council held an open debate on the Palestinian Israeli issue on the morning of the 24th, with calls for a ceasefire dominating the meeting. United Nations officials, Arab foreign ministers, and the Permanent Representatives of China and Russia to the United Nations have all pointed out that Gaza is experiencing a serious humanitarian disaster and must immediately cease fire.

However, the United States and Israel have rejected calls for a ceasefire between the two sides, and US officials have even claimed that "a ceasefire now only benefits Hamas". Even as the United States continues to prevent the Security Council from passing a resolution on the Israeli-Palestinian issue, Israel's indiscriminate bombing of Gaza continues.

Moreover, with the support and serious favoritism of the United States, Israel not only ignored the international community's call for an immediate ceasefire on both sides, but also fiercely criticized United Nations officials.

On the 25th, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated on social media that "the harsh remarks made by the United Nations Secretary General during his statement to the Security Council are outrageous and shocking, tarnishing him and the organization he leads. The Secretary General's remarks reflect the biased and distorted attitude of the United Nations, especially the Secretary General himself, towards Israel.

Previously, at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on the 24th, Secretary General Guterres stated in his speech that "it is important to recognize that Hamas is not launching attacks out of thin air, and the Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation. This statement has caused dissatisfaction from Israel's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Erdan. Eldan said in an interview with reporters after the meeting, 'I demand Guterres to resign unless he immediately apologizes.'.

Israel's oppression of the Palestinian people has a long history. If its paranoid and distorted behavior continues and the ordinary people in the Palestinian area continue to relentlessly carry out military strikes, then this irrational and violent behavior will sooner or later lead to its own destruction. Because history has proven countless times that leaving others with no way to go will ultimately lead to leaving oneself with no way to go.

For those who are pushed to the brink of despair, the only option may be to die together and die together.

The history of Israel's repeated annihilation has repeatedly taught us that a country can rise again even after experiencing the blow of annihilation. However, if a country cannot learn from past failures and change its behavior, it will continue to face serious difficulties, even the disaster of extinction.

I hope Israel can learn from its past mistakes and realize that using violence to turn violence into violence does not solve any problems, but only makes them more complex and uncontrollable. In order to completely change its paranoid and arrogant attitude, recognize the need to break free from excessive dependence on the United States, abandon hegemonism and power politics, and awaken true conscience in order to establish a foothold in the world and achieve true peace and prosperity in the future.
