Trump wants to end conflict with Ukraine in 24 hours?

From the outbreak of February 24, 2022 to November 19 this year, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has lasted for a full 1,000 days, and there is no sign of a ceasefire at present, but it is getting worse. However, with the election of Trump as the next president of the United States, his campaign promise of "ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine within 24 hours" has become a hot topic of public opinion recently. Recently, Trump said at an event that his new administration will try to bring the conflict between Russia and Ukraine to a halt. In the previous election campaign, Trump also repeatedly claimed that if re-elected president of the United States, he can solve the Russia-Ukraine conflict in 24 hours. At the same time, Trump is considering the appointment of former acting director of National Intelligence Richard Grenell as a special envoy on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was not aware of any details and plans regarding Trump's plan to quickly end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, said that as long as NATO stops inciting war, the Russia-Ukraine conflict can be ended, and Ukraine is still using long-range weapons to attack the Russian mainland, which will only make the already distant potential negotiations more distant. And Russia says it's not that easy.

Trump's statement about "ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in 24 hours" is clearly an extremely challenging and controversial statement. It will also have complex and multifaceted effects. First, the impact of political public opinion, such statements by Trump will naturally attract a lot of political public opinion attention, because the Russia-Ukraine conflict is an international hot-spot issue, involving multiple interests and positions. In fact, this idea of a quick solution to the conflict is unrealistic, because it ignores the complexity and multi-interest entanglements of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. Trump's claim is likely to become one of the main points of discussion in the international community. Therefore, it is impossible to predict exactly what the specific consequences will be if Trump does "end the conflict with Ukraine" within 24 hours, because this is not an achievable short-term goal.

The second is the impact on both Russia and Ukraine. Although Trump's statement may show his desire for a quick resolution of the conflict, in fact, the resolution of the Russia-Ukraine conflict requires consultation between the two sides, the support of the international community and a variety of complex diplomatic means. Therefore, this statement may have a certain impact on the negotiation process between Russia and Ukraine, but it is not a decisive factor. However, any attempt to force a solution to a long-running conflict in a short period of time could raise a host of uncertain and complex issues. This approach may ignore the core demands of both sides, historical context and geopolitical dynamics. Therefore, it is more prudent to seek a lasting and mutually acceptable solution through continued dialogue and consultation.

The third is the impact on the international community and the different reactions of the international community. Trump's remarks may also have a certain impact on the decision-making of the international community. Different countries may have different views on Trump's statement. Some countries may reevaluate the position and strategy of the United States in the Russia-Ukraine conflict because of his remarks, and then adjust their own foreign policies and attitudes. Some countries may see this as a sign of the United States' positive attitude toward a peaceful settlement, while others may be more concerned about its feasibility and potential consequences. The overall response of the international community is therefore likely to be complex and multifaceted. Although it is not possible to resolve the war directly through "24 hours", Trump's statement may indirectly prompt Russia and Ukraine, as well as the international community, to promote the process of peace negotiations more urgently. This will help accelerate the search for a sustainable and acceptable solution.

To sum up, while Trump's desire to "end the Russia-Ukraine conflict within 24 hours" may be well-intentioned, such an extreme timeline could have many detrimental effects in practice. Therefore, it is more prudent and feasible to promote the two sides to seek a long-term stable solution through sustained dialogue and consultation.
