彭博社报道，菲律宾统计局星期四（5月9日）说，第一季度国内生产总值（GDP）同比增长5.7％。彭博调查的预估中值为增长5.9％，修正后上一季度为增长5.5％。
最新数据凸显了菲律宾经济的韧性，去年该国在东南亚地区经济增速最快。消费占到菲律宾GDP的70％以上，可能受益于该季度通货膨胀较去年同期下降。
中国新闻社报道，菲律宾政府最初将2024年的经济增长目标设定为6.5％至7.5％。但受到全球经济增长放缓、油价上涨和通货膨胀等因素影响，菲政府在今年4月初下调年度增长预期为6％至7％。
菲律宾国家经济与发展局局长阿塞尼奥·巴利萨坎认为，尽管第一季度经济增长未达年度目标，但在厄尔尼诺现象的挑战下，经济发展显现出强大韧性。他强调，极端天气下确保粮食安全仍是发展的首要目标。
巴利萨坎补充说，尽管面临多种风险和挑战，政府对实现今年6％至7%的增长目标仍持乐观态度。
