Kiev - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Saturday he hopes Europe and the United States will be involved in any talks to end Ukraine's war with Russia.
Speaking at a joint news conference in Kiev with visiting Moldovan President Oleksandu, Zelensky said Ukraine needs to be involved in any negotiations to end the war in order for such talks to have a meaningful impact.
"With regard to the arrangement of the talks, I really hope that Ukraine, the United States, Europe and Russia will participate in the talks," Zelensky said. He later clarified that no framework had been established.
He said he hoped Europe would be involved because Ukraine would become a member of the European Union.
Zelensky said he believed U.S. President Donald Trump could end the war, but only if Ukraine was involved in negotiations.
"Only if Ukraine is involved will he (Trump) be able to end the war, otherwise it won't work." Because Russia doesn't want to end the war, and Ukraine wants to end the war."
