彭博社报道，印度尼西亚政府星期四（7月25日）发声明称，开发商将于9月开始实施名为“峇厘岛地铁”的项目，并将于2031年完工。
冠病疫情后，各国放宽旅游限制，当地游客量不断增加，往返峇厘岛国际机场的交通拥堵是游客的主要痛点。去年，外国游客人数就达到疫情前的水平，每月约50万人次。
这个项目是总统佐科雄心勃勃推动的其中一个计划，他希望建造更多铁路来缓解印尼拥挤的交通。他也在去年启动两个价值数百万美元的铁路项目，将雅加达与周边城市连接起来。
