Protests across the United States rise again. Americans accuse Trump of his tough policies eroding people's rights

(Washington/New York) Large-scale anti-Trump demonstrations broke out again in many parts of the United States on Saturday (April 19), with tens of thousands of people taking to the streets to protest against a series of tough measures implemented by President Trump since he took office in January on issues such as immigration, federal budget, college policies, and the Russia-Ukraine and Israeli-Kazakhstan wars. The demonstrators criticized that these policies were gradually eroding the democratic system and basic human rights.

This protest was initiated by an organization named "50501", and the actions spread throughout major cities such as New York, Washington, Chicago, San Francisco and Texas. Protesters criticized that the Trump administration is interfering in the operation of the country with increasingly tough means, and there is even a risk of weakening the democratic system and changing the normal operation of the regime.

The organization said that about 400 demonstrations broke out across the United States. Although the scale is smaller than the over 1,400 rallies at "Hands Off" (" Don't Interfere ") on April 5th, the organizers hope to leverage the public's dissatisfaction with government policies to promote the formation of a sustained social action.

In Washington, protesters gathered outside the White House, holding up signs such as "Workers should be empowered", "No monarchy", "Stop arming Israel" and "Due process", expressing their concerns about the Trump administration's violation of constitutional principles.

Douglas, a 41-year-old demonstrator, said, "The government is launching a direct attack on the concept of the rule of law and is challenging that the government should not abuse the fundamental principles of civil rights."

Some protesters waved Palestinian flags, wrapped themselves in Arab headscarves and shouted "Liberate Palestine", while others held Ukrainian symbols, urging Washington to take a more explicit stance in counterbalancing Russia's aggression against Ukraine. However, Trump said on Friday (the 18th) that if there is no breakthrough in the relevant negotiations with Ukraine in the short term, the US side will consider stopping the mediation.

In New York, demonstrators gathered in front of the city library to protest against Trump's policy of deporting undocumented immigrants. They shouted: "No U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), no fear. Welcome immigrants here."

Butler, a doctoral student in immunology from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, held up a map marking the distribution of the measles epidemic in Texas to protest against the government's cuts in funding for science and public health work.

Since January, the Trump administration has threatened many higher education institutions, including Harvard University, claiming that if the Diversity (DEI) policy is not stopped and anti-Semitic international students are not screened, the authorities will stop allocating funds.

On the west coast of the United States, hundreds of protesters expressed their protest on a beach in San Francisco by arranging human figures to form the English words "impeachment" and "recall". Another demonstrators hung the American flag upside down near the beach, symbolizing that the country was in crisis.

In Texas, small-scale anti-Trump protests also emerged in Galveston, one of the traditional and conservative constituencies. Oliver, a 63-year-old writer, said, "This is my fourth time to participate in the protest demonstration." Logically, I would have waited until the next general election to act, but now I can't wait any longer. We have lost too much.

In early April, the first large-scale demonstrations since Trump's return to the White House broke out in the United States. The protesters put forward three major demands: to end the control of the government by billionaire (Musk) and the rampant corruption of the Trump administration; Stop cutting Medicaid, social security, and other federal funds that the working class relies on; Stop attacking immigrants, transgender people and other groups.

Gold prices soar: Trump's tariffs ignite risk aversion sentiment

Recently, the spot price of gold broke through $3,350 per ounce, with an intraday increase of 0.65%, setting a new historical high. Behind this rally lies a comprehensive rise in market risk aversion, with the tariff policy implemented by the Trump administration serving as the direct trigger.
