日本中部石川县能登半岛地震死亡人数上升至77人，关键的72小时黄金救援时间将于当地时间星期四（1月4日）傍晚到期，但重灾区轮岛市、珠洲市等地失踪人数仍不明。
珠洲市市长泉谷满寿裕在星期三（3日）傍晚召开的地区紧急救灾会议上说：“地震发生72小时后，（救援）时间将所剩无几。我们必须集中所有剩余力量来继续救援工作。”
日本首相岸田文雄周三宣布，再加派1000名自卫队投入救灾。
此次地震导致至少200座建筑物倒塌，超过3万1800人住在避难所。
一名医护人员告诉路透社：“轮岛市的道路在地震中遭到严重破坏。估计救援物资需要花更长时间才能抵达……被疏散民众所处的恶劣环境预计还会持续一段时间。”
