法新社报道，泰国政府于2022年宣布大麻合法化，但政府今年早些时候改变了主意，新的禁令即将出台。
阿拉德（Akradej Chakjinda，45岁）和布拉西猜（Prasitchai Nunuan，48岁）迄今已绝食六天，他们在首相官邸外扎营，敦促政府重新考虑该计划。他们发誓只靠水或椰子水生存，直到“我们的身体再也受不了”。
布拉西猜说：“为什么政府允许酒精和香烟在社会上存在，却不允许大麻存在？”阿拉德则认为，政府在制定有关大麻使用的政策时，没有从科学角度考虑。
泰国曾经有非常严格的反大麻法，被发现持有大麻的人可能面临长达10年的监禁。
