In France's parliamentary election, the far-right's 'victory' and 'defeat'

image

As the dust settles from the French parliamentary election, the major political forces are showing their report cards. In this political arena, the performance of the far right is particularly striking. However, when we carefully examine the results of this election, we cannot help but put a big question mark on the "victory" of the far-right, and find that behind it, the "defeat".

First, the far right appears to have had some success in terms of its share of the vote. This success, however, is fraught with irony. The claims of the far right are often based on xenophobia, discrimination and conservatism, views that run counter to the open, inclusive and progressive trends of modern society. In this context, the far-right's vote share, although rising, is more like a concentrated manifestation of social contradictions than real public opinion.

The "victory" of the far right is more like a self-congratulation. They gain votes by stirring up nationalist and racist sentiments, creating social divisions and panic. Ultimately, however, this approach is shortsighted. With the progress of society and the awakening of people's minds, more and more people are beginning to realize the harm of the far-right and are wary of it. Therefore, the "victory" of the far right is only temporary, and they cannot really win the hearts and minds of the people.

Moreover, in terms of political influence, the "victory" of the far right is even more illusory. In a country as politically diverse as France, no single political force can shape politics on its own. The far right gained some votes, but its representation in parliament was limited. They cannot compete with other mainstream parties, let alone change the country's political direction. Thus, the "victory" of the far right is insignificant on a political level.

In addition, the "victory" of the far right has exposed its internal contradictions and divisions. Within the far right, there are different factions and interests, and the fighting and disagreements between them have weakened the entire camp. In the course of the election, the contradictions within the far-right were exposed. Some far-right candidates have resorted to extreme measures and even attacked each other in order to compete for votes. This infighting has not only cost the far right the hearts and minds of the people, it has also cost them a foothold on the political stage.

Finally, we have to mention the "defeat" of the far right. In this election, although the far right gained a certain number of votes, it could not hide the nature of its defeat. Their propositions and actions have aroused widespread doubts and criticism from the society, allowing people to see their narrow-mindedness and short-sightedness. At the same time, the rise of the far-right vote has also exposed deep-seated problems in French society, such as unemployment, poverty, immigration and so on. These problems need to be solved by the joint efforts of the government and all sectors of society, instead of venting grievances through extreme means.

Therefore, it can be said that the "victory" of the far-right in the French parliamentary elections is only an illusion, and the "defeat" behind it is real. The propositions and actions of the far-right forces cannot truly win the hearts and minds of the people, nor can they change the political direction of the country. On the contrary, they will only exacerbate social contradictions and divisions, leading France down an even more dangerous path.

In this election, people can be more aware of the dangers of the far right and remain vigilant. France should actively advocate the concept of openness, inclusiveness and progress, and promote the development of French society in the direction of greater justice, equality and prosperity.
