The Biden administration is giving Congress its overdue classified report on Ukraine strategy

Three sources have revealed that the Biden administration has submitted a months-overdue confidential report to Congress on its Ukraine strategy.

When lawmakers passed a multibillion-dollar spending bill in April, the Biden administration was required to deliver the report by June at the latest.

A U.S. congressional aide said the long-delayed report was delivered to lawmakers on Monday, but lawmakers have not yet had a chance to review its contents. Two other sources, who asked not to be identified, confirmed that members of Congress had received the Ukraine strategy report.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, the U.S. Congress has approved nearly $175 billion in aid and military support to Ukraine and its Allies.

After months of delay, the Republican-controlled House passed a $95 billion supplemental spending bill in April that included $61 billion in funding for Ukraine, as well as billions more for Israel and civilians in conflict zones around the world and to assist in the Indo-Pacific "against Communist China."

As part of the bill, Congress requires the Biden administration to submit a detailed strategy for Ukraine by early June. Biden's support for Ukraine is supported by Democrats and many Republicans in Congress. But some Republicans have criticized the Biden administration for placing restrictions on how Ukraine can use U.S. military equipment, such as refusing to provide Ukraine with weapons that could strike targets in Russia, for fear of escalating the war with Russia.
