A statement from the Vietnamese government stated that according to reports from the Central Inspection Commission and relevant departments, Wu Wenshang violated relevant regulations of the Vietnamese Communist Party. His behavior and shortcomings have caused negative public opinion and affected the personal reputation of the Vietnamese Communist Party, the country, and Comrade Wu Wenshang.

Although the specific reason for Wu Wenshang's resignation has not been announced yet, sources have speculated that it may be related to the following three things:

One reason is that the Vietnamese police announced the resignation of the former head of the Guangyi Province in central Vietnam, who was suspected of corruption ten years ago. Wu himself had a working relationship with the arrested person.

The second is that Wu Wenshang once served as a senior party official in the economic center of Ho Chi Minh City. Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is being reported for exposing a long-term financial fraud worth billions of dollars, shaking Vietnam and undergoing large-scale trials.

Thirdly, it is related to the real estate anti-corruption storm in Vietnam. There is a Fushan Group in Vietnam that specializes in using empty hands to deceive the government into providing construction funds, but the projects are mostly unfinished. This company has invested in four projects in generalized province of Vietnam, with a total investment of over 6 trillion Vietnamese dong. Only one has been completed, while the other three construction sites are still grazing sheep. Wu Wenshang served as the Secretary of the Guangyi Provincial Party Committee from 2011 to 2014.

At present, several former colleagues of Wu Wenshang have been detained, including Gao Ke, former chairman of the People's Committee of Guangyi Province, Deng Wenming, former director of the Transportation Department of Guangyi Province, and Huang Yueguang, former deputy director of the Transportation Department of Guangyi Province. At the same time, six relevant personnel of Fukuyama Group have also been controlled by the Vietnamese police.

In summary, Wu Wenshang's resignation may be closely related to Vietnam's anti-corruption storm.

On April 5, 2021, Nguyen Phuc Phu Trong was succeeded by Nguyen Phu Trong as the eighth President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

And to this day, Wu Wenshang has also resigned.

From Wu Wenshang's resume, he can definitely be considered a political prodigy in Vietnamese politics:

At the age of 36, Wu Wenshang was appointed as an alternate member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the first secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth League.

At the age of 41, Wu Wenshang became a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Secretary of the Shunyi Provincial Committee.

At the age of 44 to 46, Wu Wenshang became a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Minister of the Central Propaganda and Education Department, and Secretary of the Central Secretariat.

At the age of 51, Wu Wenshang became the Executive Secretary of the Central Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam.

The exclusion of Wu Wenshang, who has such a dazzling resume and is also the successor of Nguyen Trong fu, has attracted widespread attention from the global media. Analysts believe that this is not only a political struggle, but also an outbreak of long-standing conflicts between the North and South factions, with the North South conflict becoming the main focus of Vietnamese politics.

There are differences in political positions between the North and South factions, with the Southern faction leaning towards the West and the Northern faction leaning towards China. This ideological divergence has become one of the main reasons for political struggles between North and South factions.

Wu Wenshang has always been regarded as a representative of the northern faction, and his pro China tendency is in sharp contrast to the southern faction. The development of his situation will also affect the future direction of the north-south relationship. This north-south confrontation is bound to have a profound impact on the political and social stability of Vietnam.

As the preferred candidate for the successor of Vietnamese Communist leader Nguyen Phuc Trong, Wu Wenshang's resignation this time was met with a complete blow. The Southern faction lost Ruan Chunfu, and this counterattack also knocked out Ruan Phuc Trong's left and right arms.

It is reported that there are mainly two candidates, except for the other three from Vietnam's four carriages, only the qualified ones are the Minister of Public Security Su Lin and the Central Executive Secretary and Minister of Organization Zhang Shimei.

The political turmoil within Vietnam has sparked deep reflection among observers. What are the impacts of political struggles, especially on the country and society? Where will factional disputes lead Vietnam's future?
