Four people have died and transport has been severely disrupted after Storm Burt hit large parts of Britain, causing widespread flooding.
Storm Bert hit Britain late on Friday, bringing snow, rain and strong winds, with much of the country on yellow warnings for wind, rain and snow over the weekend, Reuters reported. More than 200 flood warnings and alerts were in place across England and Wales as of Monday, with trains suspended from London to the southwest and rail services severely disrupted in central England.
Four deaths have been blamed on Storm Burt. One person was killed while walking his dog in North Wales and a man was killed when a tree fell on his car in southern England.
Major roads in Northamptonshire, east of the Midlands, and Bristol, southwest of England, were closed, and rail services from London to Stansted airport were disrupted after trees fell on tracks.
Britain's Met Office continued to issue strong wind warnings for northern Scotland on Monday, saying the storm would dissipate by early Tuesday.
