印度尼西亚当局逮捕12名涉及非法器官移植人口贩卖活动者，他们将122人贩运到柬埔寨出售肾脏，落网者包括一名警察和一名移民局官员。
路透社报道，印尼官员星期四（7月20日）说，12名嫌犯被控违反印尼人口贩运法。如果罪名成立，将面临最高15年监禁和6亿卢比（约5万3000新元）的罚款。
雅加达警方刑事调查部门主任亨基说，人口贩子通过社交媒体向印尼各地招募卖肾的人，然后把他们送到柬埔寨进行肾脏移植手术。
每名受害者获承诺可得到1亿3500万卢比的报酬。
亨基说：“受害者之所以同意出售自己的器官，是因为他们需要钱。许多受害者都在冠病大流行期间失去工作。”
人口贩运活动在印尼并非新鲜事，大多数被贩运的人是为了找工作，而债务胁迫往往是人口贩子的惯用手段。
2019年，印尼当局侦破了印尼有史以来最大规模的人口贩运活动，约1200名受害者被贩卖到外国当家庭帮佣，八人被捕。
