North Korea's foreign ministry said Friday (Oct. 11) that South Korea sent a drone into Pyongyang's capital, calling it a political and military provocation. The South Korean military quickly denied it.
North Korea's foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by the KCNA news agency that drones entered Pyongyang overnight last week and this week and dropped a large number of anti-North Korean leaflets.
"This incursion into our airspace is a serious criminal act that violates our sovereignty, and we will clearly exercise our right to self-defense." South Korea has chosen self-destruction, which is accelerating its demise."
The North's foreign ministry added that drone incursions require retaliatory action, while urging South Korea to stop such actions. "Such irresponsible and dangerous provocations could lead to armed conflict or even war between the two sides and should be stopped immediately."
South Korea's military said no drones were sent into North Korea, Yonhap reported.
Some South Korean activists launched balloons into North Korea, carrying aid packages and leaflets critical of leader Kim Jong UN.
