日本宇宙航空研究开发机构（JAXA）宣布，今年9月升空的小型登月探测器SLIM已在星期一（12月25日）下午成功进入环月球运行轨道。
新华社报道，JAXA发布消息说，在当地时间星期一下午4时51分（新加坡时间下午3时51分），SLIM进入一个近月点高度约为600千米、远月点高度约为4000千米的椭圆形轨道。探测器绕轨道运行一周需要约6.4小时。目前探测器状态正常。
按计划，SLIM将于2024年1月20日尝试在月球表面着陆。如果成功着陆，SLIM将使用其搭载的光谱照相机分析来自月幔的岩石的组成成分，借此探索月球的起源。
SLIM的长宽高分别约为2.7米、1.7米和2.4米，不含推进剂的质量约为200千克。它于今年9月7日搭乘一枚H2A火箭升空，是日本第三个挑战登月的探测器。
2022年11月，JAXA的日本首个登月探测器“好客”因未能与地面建立通信而放弃实施登月探测任务。2023年4月，民间企业“i太空公司”执行“白兔-R”1号任务的月球着陆器据推测因偏离着陆地点，而坠毁在月球表面。
