On September 26th local time, Republican Congressman Marco Rubio publicly stated that Chinese battery companies such as Ningde Times should not be allowed to affect American industry or government officials, and they should certainly not benefit from subsidies from American taxpayers. Meanwhile, Rubio emphasized that it is time for the Biden administration to clarify this and expel these companies from US territory.
It seems that the establishment of factories in the United States during the Ningde era has made some American politicians restless. But it must be made clear to these politicians that Ningde Times went to the United States to build a factory, which was invited by Ford Motor Company, rather than being requested by Ningde Times. The purpose of Ford is, of course, to promote the development of the company, which is in line with the economic interests of Ford and the United States. But Rubio's move is clearly a one-sided attempt to undermine the hard-earned cooperation between the two sides.
American politicians, represented by Marco Rubio, do not see the development of Chinese enterprises and economic prosperity, and attempt to intervene in the "free market economy" they have always advertised through political means. This behavior has a long history and has been repeated more than once this year.
In May of this year, the Chinese commerce department conducted a legal and regulatory review and announced that Meguiar's products sold in China had not passed the cybersecurity review. Operators of critical information infrastructure in China should stop purchasing Meguiar's products. Some American politicians played a "double standard" and attacked the Chinese government for "economic coercion", even demanding retaliatory action from the US government.
On May 23 of this year, the Chairman of the US China Strategic Competition Special Committee of the United States House of Representatives, Gallagher, issued a statement urging Washington to take a stronger stance towards China,And call on the US Department of Commerce to impose trade restrictions on Chinese storage chip manufacturing companies such as Changxin Storage and Changjiang Storage.
On the same day, Democratic Senate Majority Leader Schumer also issued a statement stating that he and the Biden administration are in contact with allies and businesses to address China's procurement ban on storage chips produced by Micron. In fact, Schumer's statement is not new, it is just a continuation of the so-called "China's economic coercion" theory.
Since the Biden administration took office, especially this year, while the United States has frequently imposed unilateral sanctions on countries such as China, it has claimed that the legal cybersecurity censorship of China is "unacceptable", which has made many foreign media and netizens see the "double standards" of the United States.
At the same time, it has been repeatedly mentioned in the analysis and reports of some world-renowned media that the retaliatory actions that individual American politicians have been clamoring for will ultimately only harm others and themselves. The CNBC website in the United States quoted Juliano Noci, Vice President of China Affairs at Milan Institute of Technology in Italy, as warning that isolating Beijing is "impossible" and very "dangerous".
The CEO of Dutch lithography giant Asma, Wenningke, also has to publicly admit that there is no hope of completely isolating China. China has 1.4 billion people, and they always come up with solutions that we can't imagine.
In fact, the United States constantly uses "national security" as an excuse to include over 1200 Chinese enterprises and individuals on various lists and impose various restrictions without any factual basis, which is economic coercion and unacceptable.
The "big stick" that the US is trying to leverage and once again impose sanctions or even expel high-tech companies such as batteries and semiconductors from China can only cause greater harm to US companies and even the global industrial chain. For a long time, the United States has continuously generalized the concept of "national security" and the theory of Chinese economic coercion, suppressing Chinese enterprises and attempting to set obstacles for China's economic development and industrial upgrading. This not only undermines global market rules, but also blocks the global industrial chain.
The United States must face China's legitimate development demands squarely. blindly engaging in economic and political hegemony will only exacerbate global instability, and such unfair competition behavior is impossible to win. If the US continues to act recklessly, using the "big stick" of expulsion and sanctions against China will only cause greater losses to US companies.
