印度尼西亚担心结核病可能影响经济增长，计划在今年内对数种疫苗进行临床试验，以对抗这种不断激增的传染病病例。
路透社报道，印尼的结核病病例过去几年不断激增，卫生部估计，2023年将有超过100万起确诊病例，2020年约为82万起。
在2022年，印尼死于结核病的人数达到约13万4000人，在全球名列第二，仅次于印度。
印尼人类发展与文化统筹部长穆哈吉尔星期一（6月10日）在省级领导层会议上说，印尼四分之三的结核病患者属于生产年龄组，而所有年龄组的45%并没有工作，这引发了结核病传播正在伤害国家经济的担忧。
穆哈吉尔没有提供结核病病例对经济增长影响的估计。
印尼卫生部长布迪在同一场会议说，印尼计划于7月对制药业巨头葛兰素史克（GlaxoSmithKline，简称GSK）开发的结核病疫苗进行临床试验，参与试验人数为2500人。疫苗开发获得比尔及梅琳达·盖茨基金会资助。
布迪说，预计今年印尼还将对中国制药公司康希诺生物（CanSino Biologics）生产的一款疫苗进行临床试验。
布迪告诉与会者说：“我们希望印尼成为首批开展结核病疫苗接种的国家之一。”他透露，卫生部也在对德国BioNTech正在开发的mRNA疫苗进行临床试验。BioNTech与美国辉瑞公司合作研发了冠病疫苗。
在同一场会议上，印尼内政部长迪托指示省领导层成立工作组，以开展结核病检测工作。
布迪说，印尼的目标是到2030年将结核病死亡率降低多达80%，至每10万人仅有六人死于结核病。
