泰国内政部称，自7月15日起，泰国将允许93个国家和地区的人员免签入境，是目前57个的约一倍，单次停留最多60天。
彭博社报道，泰国内政部发言人泰萨拉纳库勒（Traisuree Taisaranakul）星期五（7月12日）发声明称，有资格获得落地签的地区数量将从目前的19个增加到31个，但这项新政策须待皇家公报公布后才能生效。
泰国旅游和体育部本周称，截至7月7日，今年抵泰的外国游客人数较2023年同期增长35%，达1820万人次，创造了8580亿泰铢（约322亿新元）的收入。在2024年，泰国的游客主要来自中国、马来西亚和印度。
泰萨拉纳库勒还说，泰当局拟在7月15日正式给予外籍自雇人士和远程工作者的“数码游民”（digital nomad）签证，有效期将从目前的60天延长至五年，每次逗留期限为180天。
声明称，另一项签证变更还将允许在泰国获得学士学位或更高学位的留学生，能在毕业后继续留在泰国一年寻找工作、旅行或开展其他活动。
旅游业是泰国的主要经济增长驱动力，也是就业的主要来源。泰国今年的目标是接待4000万人次游客，但从1月至5月26日，只录得1430万人次。在冠病疫情暴发前的2019年，泰国接待了创纪录的3990万人次入境游客。
疫情后的泰国旅游业一直复苏乏力。泰国旅游业者对于政府未能提高泰国在世界经济论坛2024年旅游业发展指数排名感到失望，因为泰国的排名从2022年的35位微跌至去年的36位，今年更是掉到47位。
