Us presidential election countdown starts Harris and Trump final sprint

The first Monday in September is the Labor Day holiday in the United States and the start of the final push for the 2024 presidential election.

Monday (Sept. 2) is the Labor Day holiday in the United States, The New York Times reported. Labor Day also traditionally marks the launch of the final phase of the presidential election cycle, with campaigning taking place across the country this week.

Vice President Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, and his Republican rival, former President Donald Trump, are going all out in multiple states.

Trump will be in Charlotte, North Carolina, this week to address the national council of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). Trump's running mate, Ohio Senator Vance, will travel to Arizona and California.

Harris' running mate, Minnesota Governor Michael Woltz, visited the Minnesota State Fair on Monday, which has been a must-stop for U.S. politicians for many years, and went to Milwaukee on Tuesday to collect tickets.

Harris and President Biden attended a union-related event in Pittsburgh on the 1st, which is a carefully targeted campaign for Harris with the help of Biden. On the second day, the Harris campaign will launch a multi-state bus tour in Palm Beach, Florida, near Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort, where she will highlight Trump's role in the Supreme Court overturning a landmark ruling upholding a woman's right to abortion.

Three of the justices who voted in favor of the Supreme Court's 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, a 1973 decision upholding a woman's right to abortion, were nominated by Trump during his first term as president.

According to a survey conducted by pollster EPIC MRA in the swing state of Michigan from Aug. 23 to 26, 45 percent of likely voters back Harris, just one percentage point away from the 46 percent who back Trump. In addition, 46 percent of Michigan voters have a favorable view of Harris, surpassing Trump's 45 percent.

This shows that Trump's advantage in Michigan has been wiped out by Harris, who continues to close the gap with Trump.
