朝鲜继关闭多家驻非洲外交机构后，近期还关闭了设在西班牙的大使馆。
韩联社报道，西班牙共产党星期三（11月1日）在官方网站公开外交照会文件，显示朝鲜已关闭设在西班牙的大使馆。
朝鲜日前已接连关闭在非洲国家乌干达和安哥拉的外交机构。韩国统一部认为，可能是国际社会加大了对朝制裁力度，导致朝鲜创汇受阻，无法筹措驻外使馆运营费用。
西班牙人民共产党（PCPE）星期三在官网公开的外交照会文件，朝鲜驻西班牙大使馆临时代办10月26日告知西班牙方面，将撤回外交使节团的决定，有关业务将转由朝鲜驻意大利大使馆负责。照会文件未说明朝鲜关闭使馆的理由和具体详情。
朝鲜近期不断缩编驻外外交机构。朝媒上月发布将关闭乌干达和安哥拉大使馆的消息后，有外媒报道，朝鲜已向中国通报关于关闭其驻香港总领事馆的方针。
2019年弃朝投韩的前朝鲜驻科威特大使馆临时代办柳贤雨接受美媒采访时说，朝鲜早在冠病大流行暴发前就决定撤离驻外外交机构。受国际社会对朝制裁影响，朝鲜已于2019年7月出现关闭驻外外交机构的迹象。他说，预计朝鲜有可能继续关闭更多驻外外交机构，可能包括驻塞内加尔、几内亚、尼泊尔、利比亚、阿尔及利亚的外交机构。
