In the first five months of this year, the total value of China's imports and exports of goods increased by 6.3% year-on-year, according to the General Administration of Customs.

CCTV News and China News Service reported on Friday (June 7) that China's imports and exports of goods in the first five months of this year totaled 17.5 trillion yuan, up 6.3 per cent year on year, according to China Customs statistics. The total export value was 9.95 trillion yuan, up by 6.1% year on year; The total value of imports was 7.55 trillion yuan, up by 6.4% year-on-year. Trade surplus increased by 5.2% to 2.4 trillion yuan.

In dollar terms, China's import and export value of goods in the first five months of this year was 2.46 trillion US dollars, up 2.8 percent year on year. The total value of exports was US $1.4 trillion, up 2.7 percent year-on-year. The value of imports was US $1.06 trillion, up 2.9% year-on-year. The trade surplus increased by 1.8 percent to US $337.2 billion.

The total value of China's trade in goods in May was 3.71 trillion yuan, up 8.6% year on year. The total export value was 2.15 trillion yuan, up by 11.2% year-on-year; The total value of imports was 1.56 trillion yuan, up 5.2% year-on-year.

The latest data released by China's Ministry of Commerce on Friday showed that China's total import and export volume of service trade in the first four months of this year was 2,431.96 billion yuan, up 16.8 percent year on year and 2.1 percentage points faster than that in the first quarter. Total exports increased by 11% year-on-year; Total imports increased by 21.2% year on year. The deficit in trade in services was 462.58 billion yuan.

Trade in travel services is growing rapidly. According to official statistics, China's import and export of travel services in the first four months totaled 660.03 billion yuan, up 48.6 percent year on year, making it the largest field of service trade.
