受低生育率影响，韩国劳动力人口20年后将减少1000万人左右，2060年死亡者人数将为出生人口的五倍。
韩联社报道，朝鲜半岛未来人口研究院星期一（5月6日）发布的《2024人口报告》，将全体人口按照年龄大小顺序排列后，位于中间位置的中位年龄从去年的45.5岁上升至2031年的50.3岁，也就是说，半数国民年龄将超过50岁。15岁至64岁的劳动力人口将从2023年的3657万人减少至2044年的2717万人，减幅达940万人。小学适龄儿童（七岁）人数将从2023年的约43万人降至2033年的22万人。
研究院说，劳动力人口的减少将导致消费缺乏动力，造成内需市场崩溃，老年人赡养负担加重，拉低经济增长速度，最终造成低增长局面长期化。
随着老年人口的增加，独自生活的单人户老年人家庭也将大幅增加。以2023年为准，全体人口中65岁以上单人户占比9.1%（199万户），而该比重到2049年将增至20.2%（465万户）。2050年，65岁以上老年人口将达到1891万人，在全体人口中占比40%。
2060年死亡者人数将达74.6万人，为新出生人口（15.6万人）的4.8倍。韩国总人口将从2023年的5171万人减少至2065年的3969万人。
