Severe flood warnings in Thailand have killed 22 million people and affected 30,000 homes

Thai authorities reported Monday that flash floods and mudslides triggered by monsoon rains have killed 22 people and injured 19 others, raising the risk in some areas and affecting 30,000 homes.

A Russian couple and nine Burmese migrant workers were among 13 people killed in a mudslide on the southern island of Phuket last week as monsoon rains ravaged more than a dozen Thai provinces, officials said, Reuters reported.

Thai Prime Minister Pethongtan visited the northern province of Nang over the weekend to visit residents and send them food.

Thailand's transport ministry said three workers were trapped after a tunnel collapsed in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima during the construction of a railway line between China and Thailand, and a search was underway.

In addition, five northern districts, including Chiang Rai, Sukhothai and Prae, continue to face severe flooding, while the capital Bangkok and other Chao Phraya River areas are at high risk of rising water levels, although they remain manageable.
