路透社报道，一段视频显示，这架空中客车A350型飞机上的乘客通过逃生滑梯滑下飞机时，情况相对平静，而且明显没有人带着手提行李滑下逃生滑梯。
航空安全机构多年来一直敦促飞机乘客，遇到紧急情况进行疏散时还停下来拿随身行李，恐会危及大家的生命安全。
2000年美国的一项安全研究表明，平均每11天就会发生一次因为任何原因而紧急疏散飞机上的乘客。此类事件通常仅在涉及火灾时会成为头条新闻，但已促使飞机制造商改进机舱门结构和飞机的应急照明。
然而航空公司允许乘客随身携带的行李数量带来了新的挑战。
空难调查人员建议航空公司发布更强有力的乘客须知简报，并敦促乘客在接到紧急疏散令时把他们随身携带的物品留在飞机上，问题是乘客往往不遵守这项指示。
