韩国生育率持续降低，政府正在讨论将当前主管低生育率和老龄化政策的“低生育老龄社会委员会”升格为正式部门。
韩联社报道，韩国总统尹锡悦星期四（5月9日）在首尔龙山总统府举行就职两周年国民报告会暨记者会。他在会上宣布，将设立新的“低生育应对企划部”（暂名），负责社会政策的制定，并动员国家所有力量应对低生育率和老龄化问题。
他指出，这个新部门的部长将兼任社会副总理一职，负责集教育、劳动、福利于一体的政策制定，这不局限于单纯的福利政策，而是要提上国家议程。他也呼吁国会积极协助政府新部门修法，并请求在野党提供协助。
韩国是全球出生率最低的国家，人口危机迫在眉睫。法新社引述韩国官方数据称，韩国去年的出生率降至历史最低点；今年2月的初步数据显示，该国生育率2023年降至0.72，远远低于维持人口所需的2.1，比2022年下降了近8%。
专家称，按照目前的生育率情况预测，韩国当前5000万的人口到2100年将减少近一半。
这是尹锡悦近两年来首次召开记者会。上个月，尹锡悦领导的执政党在国民议会选举中大败，在野党在国会继续占多数。 尹锡悦当时承诺将推行改革，改进民生。
据韩联社报道，尹锡悦在会上提及民生问题时说，他感到心情沉重，也表示惭愧。
