South Korean President Yoon Seok-yoon pointed out that he expects China-U.S. relations to develop in the direction of promoting peace and prosperity of the international community. South Korea will closely cooperate with China and the United States in this process. He stressed that the two countries cannot choose one or the other for South Korea.

Yonhap News Agency reported that Yoon Seok-yue made the above statement in a written interview with Brazilian media Globo and Folha de Sao Paulo before attending the 19th Leaders' Summit of the Group of 20 (G20). He pointed out that cooperation and competition coexist in the international community, but the key is that such competition and cooperation should be based on international norms and rules and conducted in a legitimate and mutually beneficial way.

Yoon reiterated the tenor of South Korea's foreign policy, which is to focus on the RoK-US alliance, while maintaining strategic communication with China, deepening bilateral relations, and working to promote peace and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region and the world.

For the incoming Trump administration, Yin Xiyue said he firmly believes that he and President-elect Trump, as part of the alliance, will make more contributions to the peace and prosperity of the two peoples and the world. He stressed that South Korea and the United States will deepen strategic cooperation in the fields of security, economy, supply chain, high-end technology and energy to support the development of the Indo-Pacific and global society.

Speaking of military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, Yin Xiyue strongly condemned it. He criticized Russia and North Korea for shifting the responsibility to the RoK-US alliance, which has long worked to deter war and provocations, and said that South Korea will maintain close coordination with Allies and friends to ensure that strong and effective sanctions are fully implemented.
