U.S. Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Sarah Harris said in a text message to supporters that she is "pleased to report" that she has chosen Minnesota Governor Michael Woltz as her running mate.
CNN reported that Harris on Tuesday (August 6) officially announced the selection of Woltz as his running mate. In a text message to supporters, she said, "Walz is a battle-hardened leader with an incredible record of getting things done for Minnesota families. I know he will bring that same principled leadership to our campaign and to the office of the vice president."
Harris also addressed supporters, saying, "Having you on our side means a lot to me, Woltz and our family."
Harris also tweeted on social media: "I am proud to announce that I have asked David Woltz to be my running mate. As a governor, coach, teacher and veteran, he has made a difference for working families like his. It's great to have him on the team."
The two men are expected to appear together at their first joint rally later Tuesday in Philadelphia.
