根据美国小儿科学会（American Academy of Pediatrics）发表的一项新研究，美国儿童因枪击死亡人数创下纪录新高。
路透报导，美国小儿科学会近日在《小儿科期刊》（Pediatrics）上发表的这项研究，系利用美国疾病管制暨预防中心（Centers for Disease Control and Prevention）死亡率资料库统计，结果发现2021年（最新一年的数据）有4752名儿童死于枪枝相关伤害，高于2020年的4368名，以及2019年的3390名。
自2020年以来，枪枝暴力一直是美国儿童死亡首因。
今年在美国田纳西州纳希维尔（Nashville）发生校园枪击事件，造成3名儿童与3名老师死亡。事件发生后，田纳西州议员召开一场关于公共安全的特别会议，这项研究也向外发表。
研究还指出，非裔儿童约占枪枝凶杀案的67%，而白人儿童约占以枪枝协助自杀案的78%。
