根据澳洲天空新闻台（SKYNEWS）消息，一架载有约 20 名美国海军陆战队员的美军V-22“鱼鹰”（V-22 Osprey）运输直升机今（27）日在澳洲达尔文北部提维群岛地区坠毁。目前伤亡情况不明。
综合外电报道，事故发生在当地周日（27日），一架V-22鱼鹰式直升机在联合军演期间，在澳洲达尔文以北的梅尔维尔岛附近坠毁。据悉，当时正进行“捕食者行动”（Predators Run）演习，参加演习的人员来自澳洲、美国、印度尼西亚、菲律宾和东帝汶。坠机事故发生后，联合军演将暂停。
报道指，澳洲国防军在一份声明中表示：“初步报告显示，该事件涉及美国国防人员，澳洲国防军成员并未参与其中。”
消息人士告诉澳洲天空新闻，这宗事故有可能造成人员伤亡，一些人仍下落不明。据澳洲广播公司（ABC）报道，部分机上的人员已经获救。
