Eleven Middle Eastern countries issued a joint statement, supporting Syria's security, unity, stability and sovereignty, and opposing foreign interference in Syrian affairs.
Xinhua News Agency reported that the Jordanian Foreign Ministry issued a statement on Thursday (July 17) saying that the foreign ministers of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon and Egypt have held intensive consultations on the situation in Syria over the past two days and reached a consensus on their positions.
Foreign ministers of all countries unanimously emphasized their support for Syria's security, unity, stability and sovereignty, and their opposition to any foreign interference in Syrian affairs. Welcome the agreement reached on ending the crisis in Syria's Suveda Province, emphasizing the necessity of implementing the agreement to safeguard the unity of Syria and the safety of its citizens. Support efforts to establish security, national sovereignty and the rule of law in Suveda Province and throughout Syria, and oppose violence, sectarianism, incitement of discord and hatred.
Foreign ministers of various countries condemned Israel's attack on Syria, arguing that it blatantly violated international law, was a blatant infringement upon Syria's sovereignty, and undermined Syria's security, stability, territorial integrity and the safety of its citizens. They called on the international community to support Syria's reconstruction process, and urged the UN Security Council to assume its responsibility to ensure Israel's complete withdrawal from Syria, cease all of Israel's hostile actions and interference against Syria, and implement Security Council Resolution 2766 and the 1974 Agreement between Syria and Israel to establish a buffer zone in the Golan Heights.
On July 13th, fierce conflicts broke out between the Druze armed factions and the Bedouin tribes in Suveda Province, Syria. Subsequently, the armed forces of the Syrian regime's interior and defense departments intervened and engaged in exchanges of fire with some Druze armed factions. The Syrian interior department announced on Wednesday (the 16th) that a new ceasefire agreement had been reached in Suveda Province.
After the political situation in Syria underwent a dramatic change in December last year, Israel, under the pretext of "self-defense", took the opportunity to send troops to occupy the buffer zone of the Golan Heights and adjacent areas, seeking cooperation with the Druze people, who make up the majority of the population in Suweida Province, to establish a so-called "defense zone" in southern Syria and publicly demanding that Suweida and the other three southern provinces of Syria be "completely demilitarized". Refuse to allow Syrian regime forces or other armed forces to enter or establish themselves in southern Syria. After the conflict broke out in Suweida Province, Israel has continuously carried out air strikes on the targets of the Syrian regime.
