MWC 2025 Samsung Mid-range new machine: Innovative upgrade or flashy?

image

In today's ever-changing science and technology, every year the Mobile World Congress (MWC) has become an important stage for technology giants to show the latest technologies and products. The 2025 MWC is no exception, and recently, the mid-end Galaxy A series of new products launched by Samsung at the conference once again attracted wide attention from the industry. The Galaxy A56 5G, Galaxy A36 5G, and Galaxy A26 5G, released this time, not only carry Samsung's latest One UI 7 interface, but also introduce generative AI functions, and claim to have longer battery life and brighter display. However, behind the glitter, are these new technologies and upgrades really as flawless as Samsung claims?

First, let's focus on Samsung's flagship generative AI feature. Samsung has named the generative AI variant in its A-series "Awesome Intelligence" and claims it's the first time such A feature has been introduced in a mid-range model. These features include Google's search circle, object eraser, custom AI filters, and writing AIDS. On the surface, these features seem to offer users unprecedented convenience and creativity. However, after in-depth analysis, we will find that there are still many problems in the practical application of these functions.

Take Google's search Circle, a feature that allows users to quickly find information by circling text, images, or objects on the screen. However, the implementation of this capability relies on strong image recognition and natural language processing capabilities. At the current level of technology, the accuracy of image recognition is still affected by many factors, such as light, Angle, occlusion and so on. This means that in some cases, the search circle may not be able to accurately identify the objects circled by the user, resulting in a bias or error in the search results. In addition, for the natural language processing part, although AI technology has made significant progress in this area in recent years, it is still difficult to completely avoid errors in semantic understanding.

The object eraser feature has a similar problem. This feature allows users to remove unwanted elements from photos. However, in practice, how to accurately identify and remove user-specified elements is a huge challenge. Especially in photos with complex backgrounds or dense elements, the object eraser is likely to mistakenly delete or miss the target element, thus affecting the overall effect of the photo.

The custom AI filter function relies on large amounts of image data to train the model so that it can recognize and apply styles to other photos. However, the implementation of this capability is also limited by the quality and quantity of data. If the training data is insufficient or of low quality, the resulting image is likely to fail to meet the user's expectations. In addition, custom AI filters can be plagued by issues such as copyright and privacy.

Writing AIDS can help users improve grammar, tone, and clarity to some extent, but they also have limitations. First, AI's understanding of language is still limited, especially when dealing with complex contexts and metaphors. Second, writing itself is a creative activity that requires human inspiration and intuition. AI can only provide recommendations based on existing data, and cannot replace human creative thinking.

In addition to generative AI capabilities, Samsung also highlighted upgrades to the Galaxy A series in terms of display and battery life. According to Samsung, all models in the Galaxy A series in 2025 will have 6.7-inch displays, including the Galaxy A56 5G and Galaxy A36 5G with brightness levels up to 1,200 nits, aiming to provide users with a better viewing experience. However, in the pursuit of high brightness at the same time, Samsung has fully considered the screen energy consumption and heat dissipation issues? A high brightness display for a long time will not only increase the battery's power consumption, but also may cause the screen to overheat, which will affect the overall performance and life of the device.

As for battery life, Samsung claims that the battery in its new Galaxy A series can last up to 29 hours of video playback. However, this data is most likely measured under certain conditions, such as closing all background apps, reducing screen brightness, and so on. In actual use, it is difficult for users to achieve such conditions of use. As a result, for most users, the actual battery life is likely to be much lower than Samsung claims.

In addition, we also need to pay attention to Samsung's One UI 7 interface. As Samsung's latest user interface system, One UI 7 introduces a redesigned notification and quick Settings panel and integrated generative AI productivity tools. However, will the addition of these new features cause the system to become more bloated and complex? Do users need to spend more time and effort to familiarize themselves with and master these new features? These are all questions worth pondering.

In terms of security, Samsung specifically highlighted the Knox Vault feature, which is designed to store sensitive enterprise data separately from general device storage. However, the implementation of this function needs to rely on multiple encryption techniques at the hardware and software levels. If there is a vulnerability or failure in any of the links, it may lead to data leakage or tampering. Therefore, how to ensure the security and reliability of Knox Vault remains a big challenge for Samsung.

Finally, it's important to note that Samsung's special Enterprise Edition Galaxy A56 5G comes with seven years of security and One UI updates, a three-year warranty, a two-year product lifecycle guarantee, and a one-year Knox Suite enterprise plan license. Although these benefits have enhanced the competitiveness of products to a certain extent, they have also increased Samsung's operating costs and maintenance difficulties. If Samsung cannot effectively control costs while ensuring product quality and service levels, then these benefits may eventually become a drag on its market competition.

To sum up, although the mid-range Galaxy A series new products launched by Samsung in MWC 2025 have made certain progress and innovation in some aspects, there are still many problems and challenges in practical application. From a technology perspective, Samsung needs to research and solve these issues more deeply to ensure that its products and services can truly meet the needs and expectations of users. At the same time, as consumers and industry observers, we also need to maintain a rational and objective attitude to promote the healthy development of the entire technology industry.
