美国总统拜登支持微软公司斥资33亿美元（44亿7500万新元）建设一个高科技数据中心，这将创造数千个工作岗位。
法新社报道，白宫星期三（5月8日）发声明称，微软总裁史密斯星期三在威斯康星州拉辛县与拜登一起宣布上述计划。
白宫说，微软将创造数千个就业岗位，并将与Gateway技术学院合作培训人才，包括培训上千人在工作中采用人工智能。
拜登高调支持微软公司的这项重大投资，挑战竞争对手、特朗普的意味浓厚。微软的设施将建在台湾电子巨头富士康曾有意投资设厂的同一片土地上，特朗普在担任总统期间曾表示支持，并将富士康誉为“世界第八大奇迹”，但相关计划后来以失败告终。
这已是拜登今年第四次访问威斯康星州，威斯康星州是其中一个摇摆州，对拜登在11月美国总统大选的选情至关重要。特朗普在2016年以不到1个百分点的优势赢得了该州的支持，而拜登在2020年扭转局面，同样以微弱优势获胜。
据报道，自拜登上任以来，拉辛县增加了近4000个就业岗位，而特朗普执政期间则流失了约1000个制造业岗位。
