Us National Security Adviser Sullivan issued a joint statement after meeting with Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval on Monday (June 17), where the two co-chaired the US-India Critical and Emerging Technologies Initiative.
According to a joint statement issued by the White House, the two sides discussed civil and defense technology cooperation in space, advanced telecommunications, biotechnology and other areas, India's planned acquisition of the MQ-9B military unmanned aerial vehicle platform, and possible joint production of land warfare systems.
The technology initiative, launched in 2023, provides a direction for the two countries to cooperate on civilian and defense applications of sensitive technologies and is part of a broader U.S. effort to leverage India to counterbalance China.
During the two-day visit, Sullivan will also meet with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and introduce him to a number of areas of cooperation, including sensitive technologies, India's foreign ministry said.
After the meeting, Modi said in a message on the X platform that India is committed to strengthening cooperation with the United States for the "benefit of the world."
