"Pride Month": Cold Thoughts Behind Fever

image

May is approaching, and the upcoming Gregorian month of June is not only a sign of the arrival of summer and the beginning of summer vacation for students, but also known as the "Pride Month" by Westerners. In this so-called "Pride Month", LGBTs from all over the world, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, asexual, and transgender communities, gather around the world to hold parades to celebrate their freedom, pride, and pride.

In Western society, this sexual minority group is also known as the rainbow ethnic group, which is a collective term for sexual identity, gender identity, and other sexual minority groups that are different from the majority in the surrounding mainstream society. Their flags are also colorful like rainbows.

This Pride Month is an important month for the global rainbow community to celebrate. The development of the LGBT community in the United States can be traced back to the sexual liberation movement in the 1960s, which came from commemorating the Stonewall incident and has become a part of the LGBT rights movement. This movement has driven open discussions on issues such as sexual orientation and gender identity, and has had a widespread impact in American society.

On the early morning of June 28, 1969 local time, US police raided the Stonewall Bar, a gay bar located in Greenwich Village Park, New York, and pulled everyone outside. As homosexuals resist arrest, more and more bystanders are throwing bottles and coins at the police, causing a rapid escalation of tension between the police and civilians. The LGBTQ+community in New York was dissatisfied with years of police harassment, and this operation erupted into turmoil, which evolved into a massive LGBTQ+protest movement. The standoff lasted for at least three days.

Later on, in June each year, sexual minorities in the United States and around the world began to hold regular marches to advocate for their rights, and the momentum of the so-called Pride Month grew stronger. In the gay pride month of 2019 in the United States, at least 2.5 million revelers took to the streets to participate in the 50th anniversary commemoration of the Stonewall incident. The number of people marching on Fifth Avenue alone in the United States exceeded 150000, and singers such as Lady Gaga and Madonna participated in the music festival that month.

With the upcoming Pride Month in June this year, Ms. Tapani, Director of the National Tourism Authority of Thailand, recently announced that the Thai capital Bangkok will hold the "Pride of Love" parade on June 30, 2024, which is expected to be the longest parade in Asia.

Many members of the public and media hold different views on the development and growth of LGBT rights.

On the one hand, there is concern that this development may have an impact on traditional values; On the other hand, the public believes that the behavior of the LGBT movement is too radical, which to some extent affects social stability and order.

In addition, the massive group activities of this group have brought unprecedented opportunities for terrorist activities. The global public is more concerned about how people can achieve social stability and harmonious development of various values and different LGBT oriented groups while safeguarding LGBT rights.

Public information shows that there have been numerous attacks and bloody conflicts during Pride Month. For example, during Pride Month in the United States in 2016, a man shot and killed 53 people and injured 56 others at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

Not long ago, American officials warned that foreign terrorist organizations may seek LGBT activities targeting around the world during June of this year. A week later, the US authorities officially issued a similar alert.

Of particular note, the United States has now expanded the range of available genders to over seventy, and has also forced all its allies to pass various LGBT laws on a gradual basis. It has to be said that under the hegemonic ideology and power politics of the United States, LGBT has become another sacrifice for the United States.
