The "AI War" has completely begun in Silicon Valley

At present, a fierce "AI battle" has been completely launched in Silicon Valley. The latest report released by service consulting firms Dealroom and Flow Partners shows that the global technology industry is entering a new innovation cycle represented by AI and automation. The "Seven sisters" in the US stock market, with a total market value of $14 trillion, invests up to $400 billion (about 2900 billion yuan) in AI and cloud infrastructure every year, covering areas from AI chips and large models to humanoid robots, autonomous driving, AI medical care, and so on.

On June 2nd, Nvidia announced at Computex that 28 million developers worldwide can download NVIDIA NIM (Nvidia Inference Microservices), deploy AI models on clouds, data centers, or workstations, and easily build generative AI applications such as Copilot (an AI assistant) and ChatGPT chatbots. This product will shorten the model deployment time from weeks to just a few minutes.

NVIDIA NIM is an optimized cloud native microservice launched by Nvidia in March this year, aimed at facilitating the deployment of AI services for enterprises of all sizes. NVIDIA NIM has been launched on the official website and is available for users to download and deploy.

NIM microservices provide pre built containers based on NVIDIA inference software, including Triton inference servers and TensorRT-LLM, allowing developers to shorten deployment time from weeks to minutes. They provide industry standard APIs for fields such as language, speech, and drug discovery, allowing developers to quickly build AI applications using proprietary data securely hosted in their own infrastructure. These applications can be expanded on demand, providing flexibility and performance for running production level generative AI on NVIDIA accelerated computing platforms.

NIM microservices deploy models for NVIDIA, A121, Adept, Cohere, Getty Images, and Shutterstock, as well as Google Hugging Face、Meta、 The open models of Microsoft, Mistral AI, and Stability AI provide fast and high-performance production grade AI containers.

ServiceNow announced in March that it is using NIM to develop and deploy new assistants and other generative AI applications for specific fields faster and more cost-effective. Users will be able to access NIM microservices from Amazon SageMaker, Google Kubernetes Engine, and Microsoft Azure AI, and integrate with popular AI frameworks such as Deepset, LangChain, and LlamaIndex.

NVIDIA founder and CEO Huang Renxun said, "Every enterprise wants to integrate generative AI into its operations, but not every enterprise has a dedicated AI research team. NVIDIA NIM can be integrated into any platform, accessible to developers anywhere, and can run in any environment - it is helping the technology industry popularize generative AI to every enterprise organization."

An industrial revolution has begun, and major companies and regions are collaborating with Nvidia to shift traditional data centers worth trillions of dollars towards accelerated computing and establish a new type of data center - AI factories - to produce a new commodity: artificial intelligence Huang Renxun stated in a statement that the entire industry, from server, network, and infrastructure manufacturers to software developers, is preparing to accelerate innovation driven by artificial intelligence.

The ultimate goal of technology giants is to be the first to achieve General Artificial Intelligence (AGI). Although it is currently unclear how long it will take for AGI to be implemented, it is foreseeable that AI will become the decisive factor in technological competition in this new round of innovation cycle. The emergence of cloud native microservices is a good thing, but we must also approach it rationally and not blindly praise it. After all, the real breakthrough depends on whether it can bring about a transformation of the entire industry.
