新华社华盛顿10月11日电（记者熊茂伶）美国国会众议院共和党人11日就议长候选人进行党内投票，众议院多数党领袖史蒂夫·斯卡利斯获得党内提名，将与民主党议长候选人争夺众议院议长之位。

斯卡利斯当天与众议院司法委员会主席吉姆·乔丹进行角逐，仅以14票之差击败对手，这也体现了众议院共和党内部的严重分裂。
眼下，共和党人在众议院占据221个席位，仅比民主党多出9个席位。众议院共和党人需要团结起来支持斯卡利斯，才可能达到当选议长所需的简单多数门槛。一旦有几名共和党人“倒戈”，就可能出现类似前议长麦卡锡被罢免的情况。
民主党方面，众议院民主党人在10日晚的闭门会议上一致提名众议院少数党领袖哈基姆·杰弗里斯为议长候选人。
美国国会众议院3日投票通过一项撤换共和党籍众议长麦卡锡的决议，将近日来围绕拨款案发酵的共和党“内斗”推向高潮，麦卡锡也成为美国历史上首位被投票罢免的在任众议院议长。在正式选出下一任议长之前，众议院处于瘫痪状态，无法推进立法议程。
