彭博社报道，星期五（7月12日）公布的数据显示，消费者预期未来一年通货膨胀率为2.9％，连续第二个月下降。受访者也预计未来五到十年的年通胀率为2.9％，较前一个月有所下降。
密歇根大学还发布了一份关于通胀预期的特别报告，这是经济学家最近关注的一个问题。报告发现，长期通胀预期的均值与中值差异是由少数消费者造成的，并且“不太可能反映出消费者通胀预期的根本恶化”。
本周的数据显示，通胀在6月普遍降温，核心消费者价格指数（CPI）创2021年以来最小升幅，增强了联邦储备局未来几个月降息的理由。
负责调查的Joanne Hsu在声明说：“尽管预期通胀会有所缓解，但消费者对物价维持在高水平仍然感到强烈不满，近一半消费者表示，高物价正在降低他们的生活水平。”
报告指出，11月的总统大选可能打压消费者对经济的预期。
