彭博社报道，高盛集团首席经济师哈哲思（Jan Hatzius）星期一（7月17日）发布报告说：“我们下调对美国未来12个月内开始陷入衰退的可能性预估，由25%进一步降至20%。”
哈哲思说：“下调的主要原因是，最近的数据增强了我们的信心，把通胀降至合意水平无须经济进入衰退。”
他以“强劲的基本面原因”为由，预计美国的通胀压力会持续缓解。美国劳工统计局7月12日公布的数据显示，美国不含食品和能源的核心通胀率6月放缓至2021年以来最低。
此外，哈哲思也说，虽然美国联邦储备局下周料将再次上调基准利率，但这可能会是去年开始的系列加息中的最后一次。
他说：“我们的确预计未来几个季度会有所减速，主要是因为个人实际可支配收入环比增长放缓，尤其是考虑到10月份学生贷款偿付恢复这一因素，而且银行贷款减少也会构成拖累。但金融环境的放松、房地产市场的反弹以及建厂热持续均表明，美国经济将继续增长，尽管增速低于趋势水平。”
