2021年欧盟和美国达成暂停贸易战的协议，以便双方有更多时间来达成一项永久性的协议。暂停贸易战的协议将在今年年底到期。
作为暂停贸易战协议的一部分，美国取消了特朗普任内对欧盟实施的部分措施，并引入关税配额制，只有超过配额部分需要加征关税。而欧盟冻结了对美国的所有限制措施。据知情人士说，欧盟出口商一年的关税支出超过3.5亿美元（约4.7亿新元）。
