Starbucks CEO Nicole Nicholl announced the decision to cut 1,100 jobs.
In a letter sent to employees on Monday, Brian Niccol said the cuts would include existing support partner positions, as well as hundreds of open and unfilled positions.
The cuts won't affect store teams or investments, he said.
The report did not say which countries or regions would be affected by the cuts.
According to Bloomberg, the layoffs will not affect employees in the cafe, warehousing, manufacturing, distribution and baking businesses.
Starbucks said unemployed employees will receive pay and benefits until May 2. After that, they will receive severance payments based on their years of service and will receive career transition support and other assistance.
Nicol said in January that the company would cut jobs to optimize its team as part of its turnaround, with details to be announced in early March.
