The Pentagon of the United States said on Tuesday that the US has spent nearly 29 billion dollars in the war against Iran so far, an increase of 4 billion dollars compared to the estimate made at the end of April.
According to reports from Reuters and AFP, Pentagon Acting Chief Accountant Hurst told members of Congress on Tuesday (May 12th) that the latest figures include updated costs for equipment maintenance and replacement as well as operational expenses.
On April 29th, Hurst stated at a hearing of the House Armed Services Committee that the United States' military spending to date has reached 25 billion US dollars.
Hurst said: "When testifying... this figure was 25 billion US dollars. However, the Joint Staff team and the Comptroller have been constantly reviewing the estimates. Currently, we believe this figure is closer to 29 billion US dollars."
