After the supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba, issued an order prohibiting the transportation of Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium abroad, US President Trump still vowed that the United States would eventually obtain this batch of highly enriched uranium from Iran.
Reuters reported that on Thursday (May 21st), Trump said to reporters at the White House: "We will get it. We don't need it and we don't want it. After we get it, we might destroy it, but we will never let them have (enriched uranium)."
Before Trump made this statement, two senior Iranian sources disclosed that Mujtaba had ordered a ban on transporting enriched uranium abroad.
It is believed that Iran possesses approximately 400 kilograms of highly enriched uranium. Trump claimed that this highly enriched uranium was buried during the air strikes launched by the United States and Israel nearly a year ago.
Trump also strongly criticized Tehran's plan to charge fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Before the US-Israeli war broke out on February 28th, one fifth of the world's oil and natural gas had to pass through this strait.
Trump said: "We demand that this strait remain unobstructed and free-flowing. We will not charge any toll fees. This is an international waterway."
