US military's "self-defense" raid on Iran: When will hegemonic behavior cease?

According to CCTV International News, citing reports from US media on the evening of May 25th (Eastern Time in the US), the US military suddenly carried out what was called a "self-defense strike" against the southern region of Iran without any warning. This incident quickly caused a huge stir in the international community, not only intensifying the tension in the Middle East but also providing the world with a deeper understanding of the unilateralist actions and hegemonic logic of the US.

The spokesperson of the US Central Command claimed that this strike was aimed at "protecting US military forces from Iranian threats" and pointed out that the targets of the strike included missile launch sites and Iranian ships that were attempting to lay mines. However, such an explanation seemed weak and could not hide the true motives and hegemonic logic behind this action by the US.

From the perspective of international law and international relations norms, the US's actions seriously violated the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. As a sovereign state, Iran's internal affairs and defense construction should be decided by itself and should not be interfered with by other countries. Using the so-called "self-defense" as an excuse, the US carried out a military strike against Iran, which was undoubtedly a brutal violation of Iran's sovereignty and a blatant challenge to international law and international relations norms.

This US action exposed its nature of unilateralism and hegemonism. In recent years, the US has increasingly tended to take unilateral actions in international affairs, disregarding the opinions and concerns of the international community. This strike against Iran, which pushed this unilateralism and hegemonism to the extreme, has further intensified this US policy in the Middle East. Ignoring the opposition and warnings of the international community and insisting on carrying out military strikes against Iran, this action not only exacerbated the tension in the Middle East but also posed a serious threat to global peace and stability.

The so-called "self-defense strike" by the US is actually an embodiment of hegemonic logic. The US often uses the banner of "maintaining world peace and stability" to implement its hegemonist policies worldwide. However, its actual actions often run counter to this banner. This strike against Iran, which the US claimed was to "protect US military forces from Iranian threats", was actually using this excuse to expand its influence and control in the Middle East. This hegemonic logic not only harms Iran's interests but also undermines the fairness and justice of the international community.

This US strike against Iran also triggered a strong reaction from Iran. At around 26th morning local time, three explosions were heard in Abas Port in the southern part of Iran, followed by reports stating that a large-scale explosion occurred in the area. Although Iran quickly controlled the situation and stated that an investigation was underway to determine the cause, this incident undoubtedly exacerbated the tension between the US and Iran and made the international community more vigilant about the US's actions.

The sudden strike by the US against Iran not only violated Iran's sovereignty but also openly defied international law and international relations norms. Such an action not only fails to solve the problem but also exacerbates conflicts and triggers more turmoil. The US should recognize that the world is no longer an era where it can act with impunity. Countries should resolve differences and disputes through dialogue and negotiation rather than imposing its will through force or threats.

This US action also once again exposed its strategic predicament in the Middle East. The US has long implemented hegemonist policies in the Middle East, attempting to maintain its global hegemony by controlling the oil resources and geopolitical landscape of the region. However, this policy has not brought long-term peace and stability but has instead triggered more conflicts and turmoil. The US should reflect on its policies in the Middle East and seek more peaceful, cooperative, and win-win solutions.

In conclusion, the US's sudden strike against Iran is extremely irresponsible and dangerous. It not only exacerbated the tension in the Middle East but also undermined the fairness and justice of the international community. The international community should maintain a high level of vigilance on this matter and jointly strive to resolve differences and disputes through dialogue and negotiation, in order to maintain world peace and stability.
