French aircraft carrier conducts military exercise in "sensitive area" of the North Atlantic

The French Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier strike group set off from Toulon Port on Tuesday (January 27th) and headed for the Atlantic Ocean to participate in the French military exercise "Orion 26".

AFP reported that on the 27th, the French military command posted a message on social media stating that some allied military vessels have also been included in this D-Day-class aircraft carrier strike group to demonstrate the collaborative combat capabilities of the alliance.

The French Ministry of Defense did not specify the deployment location of the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier. However, informed sources said the exercise would take place in the North Atlantic. The report mentioned that recently, due to disputes between the United States and Europe over obtaining Greenland and other reasons, the North Atlantic has become a "sensitive area".

On the other hand, the office of French President Macron said that Macron will meet with the leaders of Denmark and the Greenland Autonomous Government in Paris on the 28th.

It is reported that the "Orion 26" military exercise will be held from February 8th to April 30th. The participating troops will number approximately 12,500. It will involve 25 ships including the "D-Day" aircraft carrier, 140 aircraft and helicopters, 1,200 unmanned aircraft, as well as related cyber space and space combat resources. More than 20 countries will participate in the exercise.
