The British government said that the UK has signed a joint purchase contract worth 52 million pounds with Germany, aiming to introduce advanced artillery systems to be installed on armored vehicles. This move will significantly enhance the long-range firepower strike capability of the British Army.
Reuters reported that the UK Ministry of Defence said in a statement that the agreement would provide the British Army with an "early proficiency test model" of the RCH 155 artillery system and two sets of systems to Germany for testing.
The RCH 155 artillery system is jointly manufactured by the French-German defense group KNDS and the German company Rheinmetall.
The statement said that the RCH 155 system has the ability to fire while in motion, with a range of over 70 kilometers. It can fire eight shells per minute, operate with only two operators, and travel 700 kilometers without refueling. These technical features make it an efficient long-range artillery solution.
