Regarding the Epstein files: Former British Ambassador to the United States Arrested

The British police have arrested former British ambassador to the United States, Mandelson, on suspicion of "improper conduct by public officials", in connection with the case of the deceased American sex offender Epstein.

Bloomberg reported that on Monday (February 23rd), the British police confirmed that they had arrested a 72-year-old man at a residence in Camden, London, and took him to a police station in London for questioning.

The police said that in order to avoid affecting the fairness and integrity of the investigation, more details cannot be disclosed at this stage.

The police statement did not disclose the man's name, but British media reporters who were on-site conducting surveillance captured the moment when Mandelson was arrested.

Mandelson's lawyer refused to respond to the request for comment.

In early January, the US Department of Justice released over 3 million files related to the Epstein pedophile financier case. It is claimed that a large number of emails in the files show that during his tenure as a British government minister, Mandelson had disclosed potentially sensitive market-related information to Epstein. On February 3rd, the British police launched a criminal investigation into Mandelson and searched two properties related to him.

British Prime Minister Straw said on the 5th that he had previously believed Mandelson's "lies" and appointed him as the ambassador to the United States. He then apologized to the victims of the Epstein case. Due to the controversy caused by the Mandelson incident, three key officials around Straw have resigned.

On February 19th, Andrew, the younger brother of King Charles III of the United Kingdom, was also arrested by the police on suspicion of "improper conduct by public officials". He was released about 11 hours after the arrest but continued to be under investigation.

Andrew, who was also involved in the Epstein scandal, had his title, honor and knighthood revoked by King Charles III in October last year. He then moved out of the royal residence where he had lived for over 20 years in February this year. However, he is currently ranked eighth in the line of succession to the throne.

Several British media outlets, including the BBC, recently reported that the British government is considering introducing legislation to revoke Andrew's right to inherit the throne.
